Abstract

Materialist philosophy has been present since the earliest stages of human intellectual history. It developed significantly during Greek philosophical thought and reached a high level of theoretical maturity—especially in explanation, interpretation, and analytical sophistication—with the rise of Darwinism and Marxism. As a philosophical tradition, materialism represents the cumulative contributions of numerous thinkers, and it has served as a foundational reference for interpreting various psychological, social, political, and economic theories. Nevertheless, like all human theoretical constructs, it has not been immune to critique or philosophical objections.
