Abstract

The exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart stands out as a key element in modern quality control systems. and is a vital tool for enhancing process control and ensuring high standards of quality control through the effective integration of recent and past data via a weighting mechanism. It complements control charts for arithmetic means in terms of range, standard deviation, and combined standard deviation, in addition to moving average control charts, which are criticized for being memoryless and less sensitive in detecting small, continuous changes in the level of operations. In our study, we used the EWMA control chart using Minitab software, due to its high sensitivity to small shifts in the process mean, which allows for early detection and intervention. It is used to detect small changes, and this stage establishes stability in process outputs and adopts their outputs for long-term monitoring.
