Abstract

This complex phenomenon has resulted in complex negative repercussions, including security aspects that threaten the sovereignty of states and the integrity of their borders, economic dimensions that drain their resources and affect labor markets, as well as profound social and humanitarian effects that affect migrants themselves and receiving communities alike. At the international level, there are agreements and treaties aimed at regulating illegal immigration and enhancing security and judicial coordination between countries, but practical application still faces obstacles, such as different national priorities and the difficulty of tracking cross-border smuggling networks. combating illegal immigration is not limited to the security aspect alone. It requires a balance between protecting borders and ensuring human rights, while working to improve the economic and social conditions that push individuals to venture into irregular migration.
